Located in the heart of the city, the 17-storey UNO Apartment building in Waymouth Street is the city’s first mixed-use development aimed at revolutionising affordable housing and high density communities through thoughtful and inclusive design. The building provides options for affordable ownership and rental, public housing and general market sales. The 6 Star energy rating enhances affordability and liveability as the design incorporates the extensive use of rainwater tanks and solar hot water systems.
Being a narrow site, challenges were faced during construction of the apartment building. Excavation was also an issue as construction took place next to the heritage listed Queens Theatre. Saccardo Constructions used our tower placement booms with a mobile pumping module to contend with the severe space restrictions.
